Online registration and payments for fully covered rental units have transitioned to our new rent registry.
The Rent Board now has a consolidated rent registry for both fully covered rental units, and partially covered rental units required to register with the Rent Board under Measure MM. Phase one of the project launched in the spring of 2021 for the first annual Measure MM registration. Now, owners of all rental units in Berkeley who wish to conduct Rent Board business online must use the new rent registry for things like providing or updating tenancy data, claiming an exemption for a unit, and paying registration fees.
Owners of fully covered rental units who have not yet created an account should have received a letter from our office with instructions and the information they need to do so.
If you have any questions, please contact our Registration Unit at (510) 981-7368 Ext. 2, or via email at rentregistry@cityofberkeley.info. Staff are available Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to answer questions by phone or email. We are closed on Wednesdays.
All members of the public can look up information in the registry about a particular property or unit without needing an account. Please see our Unit Information Lookup webpage to learn how to search the rent registry and understand the information you will see.
