Elected Rent Stabilization Board (Rent Board) commissioners have a four-year term of office and, if re-elected, generally serve a maximum of two terms or eight years. Commissioners appointed to fill a vacant Rent Board seat may serve the remainder of the vacating commissioner's term plus two four-year terms if they are subsequently elected and re-elected.
