Avoid penalties by paying your fees on time!
UPDATE: Fiscal year 2024-25 registration fees were due Monday, July 1. The Rent Ordinance imposes a 100% penalty on payments not received or postmarked by the due date. Most property owners may be eligible for a waiver of part or all of the penalty if their account is paid in full by September 30, 2024. The Deadline to Pay Fiscal Year 2024-25 Registration Fees is Coming Up Soon
Annual registration fees of $344 per fully covered unit and $212 per partially covered (Measure MM) unit are due Monday, July 1, 2024. If your payment is not received or postmarked by July 1, the Rent Ordinance imposes a 100% penalty.
Pay Online Using the Rent Registry
You can use the online Rent Registry to pay fees by credit card or e-check. We recently updated the Rent Registry homepage with detailed how-to videos and FAQs to support you through the online registration and payment processes. The Rent Registry will be open for online payments until 11:59 p.m. on July 1.
Mailing Your Payment
Payments by check can only be mailed to our office at 2000 Center St., Suite 400, Berkeley, CA 94704, and must be postmarked by July 1, 2024, to be considered timely.
Office Payments and Expanded Drop-Off Hours on July 1
Payments by cash, check, or credit card can be made in person at the Rent Board office. Our regular office hours are M, Tu, Th, and F from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. We are closed to the public on Wednesdays. Our new address is 2000 Center St., Suite 400, Berkeley, CA 94704.
Expanded office hours on July 1: Cash, check, or credit card payments can be made at the Rent Board Office from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
