Tenants and landlords can now stay informed about their housing rights, responsibilities, and resources on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Bluesky, and Youtube.
Expanding Communications Channels to Empower Berkeley Tenants & Landlords
The Berkeley Rent Board is expanding its outreach efforts to reach more Berkeley tenants and landlords through digital channels. The Rent Board has launched four new official social media accounts (Instagram, Bluesky, LinkedIn, and Youtube) and revitalized its longstanding Facebook account to provide tenants, landlords, and community members with timely information about housing rights, rent regulations, and Rent Board services.
The Rent Board aims to improve public awareness of our community resources including free housing counseling, mediations, and the Rent Registry, by expanding communications to the platforms Berkeley tenants and landlords are already using.
Furthering the Rent Board’s Mission
By launching official social media accounts, the Rent Board is furthering its mission to implement the city of Berkeley’s Rent Ordinance, which regulates most residential rents in Berkeley, protects tenants against unwarranted evictions, and is intended to maintain affordable housing and preserve community diversity. We hope to reach community members who may not yet be aware of their rights, responsibilities, or the services available to them, by offering actionable and bite-sized resources on popular social media platforms.
