UPDATE: Fiscal year 2023-24 registration fees were due Monday, July 3, 2023. The Rent Ordinance imposes a 100% penalty on payments not received or postmarked by the due date. Most property owners may be eligible for a waiver of part or all of the penalty if their account is fully paid by September 30, 2023. The Deadline to Pay Fiscal Year 2023-24 Registration Fees is Coming Up Soon
Annual registration fees of $290 per fully covered unit and $178 per partially covered (Measure MM) unit are due Monday, July 3. If your payment is not received or postmarked by July 3, the Rent Ordinance imposes a 100% penalty on any outstanding fee balance.

Ways to Pay and Expanded Drop-Off Hours
Property owners can pay registration fees in the following ways:
- By credit card or e-check via our online registration portal.
- In the Rent Board office or via phone with a Credit Card.
- By check via U.S. mail to: 2125 Milvia St., Berkeley, CA 94704. Payments must be postmarked by the deadline.
- Owners may drop off check or cash registration payments at the Rent Board office M, T, TH & F from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. We are closed to the public on Wednesdays.
Expanded office hours on July 3: Cash, check, or credit card payments can be made at the Rent Board Office from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
In Office Payment Procedures
- Owners should have their payments ready for drop off prior to arrival at our office, if possible please bring your registration statement.
- Upon arrival at our office, contact staff via our outside intercom to be let into the office.
- A maximum of five parties can be helped in our office at one time. If more than five people are inside, please form a line.
- A receipt will be sent to owners via email or U.S. mail.
- Please do not come in to make a payment if you have a fever or are coughing.
